Broadsoft powers innovative commander key phone system for small and medium businesses

  • Utilizing Award-winning BroadWorks® Platform, Commander Key Phone Emulates Key Phone Functionality over an IP Broadband Service
  • Allows Businesses Significant Cost Reductions in Capital Costs, Line Rental and Call Charges
  • Provides National Broadband Network (NBN)-ready Service for Legacy Voice Systems
Gaithersburg, MD and Melbourne, Australia April 28, 2016 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT), a global unified communication as a service (UCaaS) leader, and Commander, Australia's leading provider of complete business phone systems and communication solutions, today announced the national launch of Commander Key Phone, an innovative IP telephony solution for small and medium sized businesses in Australia. “Call for you on line one!” is a refrain still heard in small and medium sized businesses throughout Australia. According to research conducted by Commander and released in March 2016, of the nearly 800,000 SMBs in the country, 26% run telephony systems that were installed six years ago or longer. Many of these firms utilize legacy key phone systems, and have departmental structures that rely on key phone functionality. These legacy key phone systems are particularly prominent in the automotive, manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, medical, dental, professional services and retail industries. Many of these systems will need to be replaced as the Australian National Broadband Network (NBN) disables traditional PSTN services. In a joint engineering program, Commander and BroadSoft teams designed the Commander Key Phone, which replicates key phone functionality but provides advanced IP-based Unified Communications services like call conferencing, dedicated number and extension support, voice mail accounts and on-line provisioning for adds, moves and changes. SMBs will be able to keep their existing departmental structures, eliminate expensive line rental charges and enjoy unlimited local and national calling. The Commander Key Phone is also NBN-ready, and allows for seamless migration for businesses as NBN services deploy in their areas. BroadSoft's feature rich and flexible BroadWorks platform enables Commander to emulate all key system functionality and provides “drop in replacement” for aging on-premise key phone systems. “Commander customers have told us that they want the cost and functionality benefits of a hosted IP environment for their business phone systems, but do not want to replace the way that key phone systems operate in their existing, often departmentalised business structures,” said Scott Carter, Vocus COO. “The Commander Key Phone, supported by BroadWorks, is a perfect solution for these small and medium sized companies - they reap all the benefits of an IP telephony environment, with zero changes to the way they do their business.” “We are delighted to be working with the Commander team on their key phone product. Combining our engineering resources has yielded a very innovative and unique business telephony product that is a first in the Australian market. With this creative approach, Commander customers do not need to choose between a line based model and an extension based business telephone model – they get both,” said Kelvin Beadle, vice president, Asia Pacific, BroadSoft. Commander Key Phone is now available to business customers throughout Australia and offers:
  • Unlimited Local and National Calls
  • Unlimited Intra-account calling
  • NBN-ready Phones
  • No Set Up Fees for 24 month plans
  • No Line Rental
  • Shared key lines across handsets
  • Easy Online Management
