The Boston Globe Magazine is partnering with the Commonwealth Institute to present the Institute’s 12th annual Top 100 Women-Led Businesses list. The Top 100, which were announced during a breakfast at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel on November 1, 2013, will be published in the Globe Magazine’s first-ever Women and Power Issue. Edgewater placed 16th on the annual ranking, which is based upon total revenue.
“The organic growth we have been experiencing is a testament to the outstanding work we do for our clients,” commented Shirley Singleton, Edgewater’s chairman, president and CEO. “We continue to focus on building strong client relationships and are pleased that our ongoing growth is recognized by our peers.”
Ms. Singleton co-founded the company in 1992 with her partner, David Clancey. She began her career as a high school teacher and coach. When she abruptly lost her job due to budget cuts, Shirley successfully transitioned into a new career – computer programming. Ten years later, Shirley co-founded Edgewater Technology. Since its inception, Edgewater has grown from a privately-held, five-person shop, into a multi-million dollar, publicly traded technology management consulting firm with employees working across the globe.
During her tenure, Ms. Singleton has been presented with numerous awards and recognitions, in addition to inclusion on The Commonwealth Institute’s list of top 100 woman-led businesses for twelve consecutive years. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Endicott College in Beverly, MA; serves as a trustee for the North Shore Medical Center, which is part of Partners Healthcare; and is a member of the Town of Essex Conservation Commission.
