Vonage’s 98th, 99th and 100th Patents

Vonage was granted three patents today, marking its 98th, 99th and 100th issued patents:

  • U.S. Pat. Nos. 9,203,593 and 9,203,906, each entitled “Systems and Methods for Enabling Data Communications to a Telephony Device,” cover algorithms for minimizing battery usage by VoIP communications on mobile devices, by varying the frequency of background signaling between the device and the VoIP provider’s network.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 9,203,969, “Apparatus and Methods for Integrating Information from Voice Over Internet Calling Systems and Social Networking Systems,” provides a system for recommending links between users on a social network based on their communication histories and activity on a phone system.

“The ‘593 and ‘906 patents are good examples of the numerous technologies Vonage has developed and implemented in our Vonage Mobile® consumer app that are equally applicable in a mobile business environment,” said Chief Legal Officer Kurt Rogers. “The ‘969 patent reflects the increasing importance of providing seamless integration between communications systems and business applications used for productivity and CRM workflow, which is a key driver behind the Company’s gUnify technology.”

Mr. Rogers continued, “The issuance of our 100th patent marks a stark contrast to a younger Vonage from a decade ago. Our patent portfolio has become a powerful asset that supports the Company’s strategy to grow its leadership position in unified communications for business.”

Vonage has been granted 34 new patents to date in 2015. The Company has 240 U.S. patent applications pending, along with many foreign patents and pending applications in jurisdictions worldwide.
