June 14, 2019

June 14, 2019 – Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Daniel Ojserkis will join the firm’s Real Estate Department as of counsel in its Atlantic City office.

Ojserkis brings decades of experience in the real estate and gaming industries, where he has navigated profit-driven businesses and mission-oriented nonprofits through the tangle of governmental regulations, with a particular focus on the gaming and real estate industries.

In the gaming industry, Ojserkis represents both lenders and borrowers on the creation and modification of private and public credit facilities for gaming operators. He also handles a variety of commercial transactions for casino operators, including regulatorily sensitive trust arrangements, management agreements and community benefit agreements.

Ojserkis also represents for-profit and nonprofit developers and owners of affordable housing, and has closed transactions for the acquisition, rehabilitation, financing and/or sale of more than 6,000 affordable multifamily units across the country, including housing projects for low-income, senior, disabled and homeless residents. Such transactions have involved various types of federal and state assistance for rehabilitation and preservation of affordable housing, including low-income housing tax credits; loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans; federal- or state-funded soft debt and grants; HUD Section 8 and other rent or interest subsidies; and property tax exemptions under state law. Ojserkis also regularly counsels owners, investors, lenders and property managers on management agreement negotiations, regulatory compliance and other operating issues.

Ojserkis received his law degree from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, a master of laws degree in taxation from New York University’s School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College.
