Investment in Cloud Infrastructure Expands Delivery of Cloud-based Unified Communications Services; Enables New Products and Services for SMBs and Channel Partners

Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that it has acquired VocalCloud, a provider of cloud-based VoIP solutions, creating Digium Cloud Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Digium. Through Digium Cloud Services, the company will offer Switchvox Cloud, the hosted version of its award-winning Switchvox business phone system, and will use the new entity for the delivery of future cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) products and services. As a result of growing demand for a hosted solution from SMB customers, Digium launched Switchvox Cloud in partnership with VocalCloud earlier this year. Immediate success of the offering resulted in the two organizations electing to join forces. Acquiring VocalCloud’s expertise and proven infrastructure enables Digium to deliver its Switchvox business phone system to SMBs through the new subsidiary, while managing the entire offering, end to end. “Digium’s acquisition of VocalCloud is part of a focused strategy to position the company within the rapidly growing UC as a Service (UCaaS) market,” said Danny Windham, CEO of Digium. “Digium Cloud Services provides the necessary foundation and infrastructure to offer new cloud-based products and services for SMBs, as well as users of the Asterisk open source project.
