Dutch companies BroadForward and Voiceworks are jointly shortlisted for the prestigious 20th annual Global Mobile Awards 2015. Almere, The Netherlands, February - The GSMA announced today that Voiceworks and BroadForward are jointly shortlisted for “Unlocking 4G for MVNOs” in the category: ' Best Mobile Technology for Growing Smaller or Independent Networks'. The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting them with companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers and Internet companies. The winners will be announced by actor John Cleese during a ceremony on Tuesday 3rd of March at the GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. MWC is the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry, hosting over 85,000 attendees annually. In September 2014, Voiceworks became the first Dutch MVNE to provide 4G to their customers using the KPN network. For Voiceworks and hundreds of other operators and MVNO’s worldwide, it used to be impossible to connect to 4G/LTE networks using existing, older generation HLR’s (pre 3GPP release 8) without expensive upgrades. Working in close cooperation with Voiceworks, BroadForward has developed a unique solution which removes this limitation. Now Voiceworks can connect their legacy 3G network with KPN’s 4G/LTE network, in the world’s first commercial deployment of this user case. BroadForwards facilitates this 3G-LTE interworking function for various generations of HLR’s as an on-board function of its BFX Interface Gateway signaling solution. BFX is the Next Generation Diameter Signaling Controller featuring a wide range of routing and multi-protocol interworking capabilities used by Voiceworks to manage network connectivity and speed up time-to-market for new services. BFX empowers Voiceworks to setup signaling scenarios across vendor and access technologies such as 3G, 4G, Fixed-Line and Wi-Fi, without the need for R&D or scripting. Stijn Nijhuis, CEO of Voiceworks: “We are very proud to be nominated for Best Mobile Technology together with BroadForward. It signifies that our innovation strategy is spot-on and that we enjoy a great partnership. BFX has enabled us to be the first MVNE in the Netherlands to enable 4G services for our customers, independent on the network vendors involved, while saving significant costs”. Taco Schoute, CEO of BroadForward: “The GSMA Awards are the Oscar’s of the mobile world. They provide the widest and most prestigious recognition of industry leadership. It is therefore a great honor to be nominated for Best Mobile Technology. Our product BFX is at forefront of technological developments in network signaling. Getting global recognition for local innovation projects helps us to showcase the unique benefits of BFX in multi-vendor and multi-technology environments.” More at www.voiceworks.com
