GAITHERSBURG, MD--(Marketwire - Oct 22, 2012) - BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT) today announced Xtended Connect -- a global peering program that enables BroadSoft's service provider customers to deliver high-definition (HD) voice and video calling beyond their existing network footprint.  IntelePeer, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand cloud-based communications services, has been announced as the launch partner for the Xtended Connect program. "Today, service providers are primarily limited to supporting high-definition calls for customers within their own network, which means that the vision of a superior communication experience has yet to be realized," said Michael Tessler, president and CEO, BroadSoft. "When every BroadSoft service provider customer leverages Xtended Connect, BroadSoft-powered users in more than 70 countries will experience high-definition voice and video calling, creating a truly high-definition network." IntelePeer's Fluent™ is a federation-as-a-service offering that allows service providers to connect across networks, leveraging the scale and reach of its IP-based CloudWorx™ platform. Through the use of the cloud, service providers can deliver more services to their customers allowing them to retain and grow their subscriber base and drive extended value from their existing infrastructure. As the Xtended Connect launch partner, IntelePeer provides BroadSoft's BroadWorks customers a competitive service offering, with the ability to route all HD voice and video calls between any two BroadWorks-powered users at no charge -- delivering more advanced services, while simultaneously reducing operational and capital expenditure for the service provider. "To stand out from the competition, service providers need the ability to offer high-value communication services, while reducing their variable communications costs associated with network connectivity," said Frank Fawzi, chairman and CEO, IntelePeer. "IntelePeer's unique Fluent service extends HD voice and video capabilities to any connected user and simplifies interconnections through our global federations, allowing BroadWorks-enabled customers to provide advanced communication features, a capability no PSTN network can offer." BroadSoft's core communications platform is utilized by more than 500 telecommunications service providers -- including 18 of the 25 largest based on revenue, in more than 70 countries. The depth and breadth of BroadSoft's growing customer base ensures that service providers can rapidly realize several key benefits from the Xtended Connect program:
  • Enables delivery of a superior communications experience - Service providers can now extend the HD-quality experience beyond their existing network, offering their users a superior communication, and increasing customer loyalty.
  • Enhance service margins - All calls between two BroadWorks-powered end-users can be routed on-net at no charge to the service provider.
  • No capital costs - Service providers will not incur any capital costs on the front-end nor startup fees or maintenance charges.
  • Adapts to end-user devices - Voice and video calls between two BroadWorks users are delivered in HD whenever the end user's device supports it. Otherwise, it is delivered as a traditional standard definition phone call.
Xtended Connect is being demonstrated at BroadSoft Connections 2012: Unleash the Possibilities October 21-24 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, Scottsdale, Arizona.
