Gamma Communications ("Gamma") brought together more than 70 partner teams from across the UK for its annual Padel Smash tournament, combining competition, community and charity support in an event designed around the relationships that underpin the channel.
Hosted across Manchester, Epsom and Bristol before a final in North London, the tournament gave partners the opportunity to step away from day-to-day operations and spend time together, strengthening relationships across the industry.
In a closely fought final decided by two championship tie-breaks, CloudClevr’s Will Soens and Nathan Ransom were crowned champions. Digital Origin finished as runners-up.
While the standard of play was high, the focus of the event remained on bringing partners together and supporting shared causes. This year’s tournament raised £1,430 for Action Through Enterprise and SpecialEffect.
Events like Padel Smash play an important role in strengthening the partner community, creating space for the kinds of conversations that are harder to have day to day.
Will Morey, Managing Director at Gamma Business, said:
“Events like this are about bringing the community together. It’s about creating space for people to connect, have the conversations that matter, and build the relationships that sit underneath everything we do as a channel.
Whether it’s Padel Smash or any of the events we run, the goal is simple. Help partners spend time together, build trust over time and strengthen the relationships that help them grow their business.”
For partners, that face-to-face time remains a key part of building stronger working relationships.
Will Soens, CloudClevr, said:
“It’s really valuable coming to events like this. You don’t always get to see people face to face, so having that time together and building relationships makes a real difference.”
Beyond the competition itself, the event also continues to support long-standing charitable partnerships, with contributions helping fund initiatives both in the UK and internationally.
Tara Colsell‑Hawes, Chief Operating Officer at Action Through Enterprise, said:
“Gamma are one of our most treasured relationships. The support from Gamma and their partners makes a real difference to the communities we work with.”
John Grain, Head of Fundraising and Communications at SpecialEffect, added:
“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to benefit from Gamma’s support over many years. It’s that support that helps us continue to change lives for the better.”
Padel Smash forms part of Gamma’s wider programme of partner engagement, built around a clear principle: when partners build stronger relationships, they are better equipped to support their customers and grow their business.
The message from this year’s event was clear. Strong relationships are still what drives the channel forward.
