Mitel Communications Solution Will Enable Full Mobility and the Delivery of Value-Add Services for Patients PARIS, Sept. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitel (Nasdaq:MITL) (TSX:MNW), a global leader in business communications, will deliver a cloud-based communications solution to the University Hospital of the Reunion Island that is enabling faster diagnosis and treatment, and the provision of new patient services, while simplifying and reducing the cost of the day-to-day delivery of voice and data services. Deployment of the private Cloud solution is well underway and will go live by the end of this year across the University Hospital's 10 dispersed sites on the Island, which include hospitals, retirement homes and medico-psychological centers. Using MiVoice A5000, the solution will deliver a range of communication products and services for the 6,000 hospital staff, including in-room telephones and DECT/Wi-Fi handsets to enable mobility for hospital personnel and desktop video conferencing. Anne Marchal, University Hospital on Reunion Island, comments: "Delivering a single communications solution using Mitel will simplify and streamline discussions between healthcare professionals at the Hospital. Also, adopting cloud-based communications means the advanced technological solution satisfies both current and future requirements." Medical teams will use touchscreen tablet devices to access patient medical records and prescribe treatment immediately by sending the information directly to the on-site pharmacy, all from the patient's room. Video conferencing handsets across the estate will also enable virtual discussions between staff and medical experts, ensuring information and expertise is shared quickly to speed up the diagnosis and treatment cycle. Bernard Etchenagucia, Managing Director of Aastra, a Mitel Company, France adds: "We have significant market share in the hospital sector in France. Our experience and knowledge of this sector means we have a clear understanding of the needs of organisations such as the Reunion Island University Hospital and can deliver mobility and collaborative working solutions that benefit medical teams and administrative personnel, while ensuring the delivery of valuable services for patients such as Internet access and video on demand."
