-The company designs and develops a secure IoT platform as a fundamental element of the solution, which centralizes and monitors all the information stored in its cloud -The SOSRAEE project , framed in HAZITEK 2022 , a business R&D support program subsidized by the Basque Government, is led by Sareteknika and also has the participation of Purpleblob, Robolan, Emmaus, MIK (Mondragón Technology Center- Unibertsitatea) and ISEA Zamudio - March 21, 2023 - Sarenet (  https://www.sarenet.es ), the voice and data operator and hosting services specialized in companies, participates in the SOSRAEE project , whose purpose is to develop new models of business and methodologies in the management of electrical and electronic waste ( WEEE ) to extend the useful life of products. The initiative also seeks to protect the user against " planned obsolescence " and is a definitive commitment to maintenance and repair, key aspects to meet the objectives of the EU within the framework of its circular economy strategy . In this context, Sarenetis responsible for providing the managed and secured IoT infrastructure for communications and hosting and for hosting the platform in its cloud. This industrial research project, framed in Aclima (Association Clúster de Industrias del Medio Ambiente de Euskadi) contemplates Artificial Intelligence , Big Data , Cyber-physical Systems and Cybersecurity as the key elements on which the initiative is developed. The company  Sareteknika , specialized in global after-sales services for household appliances, is leading the consortium project, which sets the goal of better customer service and increasing speed in the delivery of spare parts, increasing logistics points, the range of brands and the range of references and spare parts. Sarenet also participates in the projectand  Purpleblob as specialists in ICT tools and system security;  Robolan as experts in facility automation and  Emmaus as a collaborator in WEEE management and repair . In addition, on this occasion the technology centers  MIK of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and the innovation center for entrepreneurship  ISEA will participate in the development of technology and its application to the market . 74 million tons of waste by 2030 WEEEs represent the highest growth rate of waste in the world, which according to some sources could reach 74 million tons by 2030. The value of this global e- waste represents around 47,000 million euros in potentially reusable resources of which, According to some international studies, only 1.5% is ultimately recycled . The SOSRAEE initiative fits into the new European Circular Economy Strategy , which promotes the reuse, recycling and correct treatment of hazardous substances contained in some WEEE, to achieve a positive effect on human health, biodiversity, climate change, water consumption and material resources. The consortium is aware that these regulatory changes that are already underway to turn this reality around offer a space of challenges and opportunities for the home appliances and consumer electronics sector, which represents a great opportunity to strengthen their positions. face the challenges that lie ahead. In this sense, the exploration and design of new, more sustainable and efficient methodologies aims to achieve the recovery and reuse of 55% of the value of the WEEE that Emmaus currently manages by 2027 through 2 different strategies: retaining the value of the WEEEat end of life by salvaging the entire appliance or removing components as valuable spare parts in other salvage processes or as spare parts. Design and implementation of a secure IoT platform In order to manage WEEE , Sarenet , together with Robolan and Purpleblob , have launched a secure IoT platform , which is the central element of the solution, defining its main modules at a high level, functionalities, interfaces, protocols and an architecture software that unifies both internal and external elements. It also includes the development of a sensor integration layer and an artificial intelligence module that allows predictive maintenance in processes, as well as tools based on Machine Learning methodology and multivariate data analysis. In order to achieve more efficient processes in the automation of the line , the three companies generate a predictive algorithm from the IoT platform, specially oriented to the traceability of materials , whose identification is carried out by means of labels with QR codes, to reduce lead times. repair to maximize its profitability and efficiency and to optimize the disassembly process in order to satisfy the demand for the most requested recycling products . To control all processes, an intelligent system for optimization of resource management and secure processes has been activated, which will be verified at the Emmaus Ekocenter facilities and which works, among others, with technologies such as Big Data and IoT . This is intended to optimize the input and output currents of revalued WEEE and the automation of internal reconditioning processes. For the management and interaction of SOSRAEE data, a secure storage and monitoring platform has been designed with a guarded access control in the Sarenet cloud , in order to improve the security of each session or access to information. In this way, Robolan exports the field signals of the industrial equipment and information from the SOSRAEE to intermediate devices (IoT Gateway, servers...) in the cloud through a router with firewalls, leaving the data stored in the 8 data centers Sarenet interconnects . Then the project data is connected from the storage to the IoT platform ( Purpleblob) that centralizes and monitors the information. In short, the SOSRAEE project is part of the Climate Change Adaptation Mission of the Horizon Europe program , whose overall objective is to investigate more sustainable waste management systems to face the challenge of accelerating the transition towards a resilient Europe prepared for climate change, in order to achieve a clean economy that results in a healthier life. Sarenet currently has more than 4,500 clients -of which approximately 25% carry out their activity in industrial processes-, to whom it provides telecommunications services and storage solutions for their applications in the cloud, in addition to advising on issues of cybersecurity .
