Telesphere Executive Shahid Joins Tempe Chamber of Commerce Board General manager for Arizona brings telecom expertise to local business organization

PHOENIX– July 25, 2012 -- Telesphere’s General Manager for Arizona, Aqeel Shahid, has joined the Tempe Chamber of Commerce as a new member of the board of directors, serving a one-year term. Shahid joins the chamber’s 22 –person board with five other new members. As the General Manager of Telesphere’s Arizona Market, Shahid brings more than 11 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He began his career in telecom as an account executive with Sprint where he was later promoted to a Data Sales Manager managing and supporting its business-to business sales teams selling data products. Shahid later moved to Eschelon Telecom/Integra Telecom, where he spent more than six years as a senior sales manager managing sales teams in Arizona. He has won numerous awards in sales including being a part of his companies’ "Presidents Club" for top producers for several years in his career. The Tempe Chamber of Commerce represents more than 1,000 members employing 74,000 people. It is continually successful in working with local and state governments and civic organizations to create a positive economic climate for the community. Shahid earned his B.S. in Marketing and his MBA in Technology Management from Arizona State University. While at ASU, he was an active member of the Business College Council where, he also served as a vice president of Marketing. He is still an active member of the ASU Alumni Association and an avid supporter of the ASU Sun Devils. He is also a member of the Arizona Technology Council. Shahid resides in Gilbert, Ariz. His career experience providing telecommunications solutions to Arizona businesses positions him ideally to serve on the Tempe Chamber’s board.
