Snom launches new entry-level model as part of D7xx series VoIP phones

June 5, 2019 - Snom has launched the D717, an innovative entry-level model of the professional D7xx series of desk IP phones. Breaking the mould for devices of this type, the Snom D717 features a colour display and unique Snom ambient light sensor to ensure secure, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective communication between users. Available in black or white, the D717 can fit the aesthetics of any working environment. Enhanced HD audio quality is guaranteed thanks to its Digital Signal Processor (DSP), supporting a variety of audio codecs, as well as Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) and Voice Activity Detection (VAD). The D717 is the perfect telephony tool for any business ranging from offices, to reception areas, workshops, hospitals, retail stores, and more. Snom’s D717 brings the latest in VoIP telephony technology to SMEs at an affordable price. The Snom D717’s versatile features make day-to-day business communication easier than ever. The D717 supports up to six SIP accounts, enabling one phone to host six different user accounts. Each account can include personalised configured call lists, call forwarding, auto answer and similar configurable settings. Three keys bordering the display on the right also operate as programmable function keys for speed dial/call forwarding and more call-related features. The multicolour LEDs on these keys indicate the status of these features at a glance, keeping the user informed throughout every step. The Snom Smart Label in the display indicates the action of the function keys, eliminating the need for paper label inserts, creating a personalised experience for the users. Each user may also explore or adjust the features using the easy-to-use 5-way controller with a premium, chrome look. A unique and innovative Snom feature included with the Snom D717 is an integrated sensor that can adjust the display brightness in accordance with existing ambient light conditions, guaranteeing display legibility and helping to reduce power consumption for a noticeable reduction in costs and a company’s carbon footprint, particularly in larger deployments. The call features of the D717 cover almost all possible scenarios a business user might encounter, for example, one-touch speed dial for frequently called contacts. Other functions include a call hold or wait option (with or without additional music) or the choice of denying or blocking certain callers by adding them to the deny list. Also, users can park or unpark calls, forward the calls easily with a single key stroke, and set up a do not disturb (DND) mode when required. Multiple language and localisation (time, dial tone) support of the user interface increases the customisation even further, helping to bring colleagues together across multiple locations or time zones. The Snom D717 is also interoperable with all major IP PBX platforms, making the deployment and use easier for PBX operators and end-users. Hands-free A small business can be chaotic at times, and the versatility of the Snom D717 helps ease the stress. The speakerphone with wideband audio quality allows users to keep their hands free for note-taking. When users don’t want to use the speakerphone for reasons of privacy, they can easily employ USB headsets with the D717. One cable solution The connectivity of the D717 offers many options: businesses equipped with technology supporting the Power over Ethernet standard can simply power and connect the phone with a single RJ45 connection, reducing cable clutter on the desk. The 2-port Gigabit Ethernet switch also provides a free Ethernet port for other devices. If the premises are not wired with easily accessible Ethernet ports, the Snom D717 can be connected to a WLAN via Snom’s USB WLAN stick (A210) instead of the Ethernet connection. Naturally, the D717 employs all the benefits of VoIP telephony, including the latest security protocols such as 802.1x authentication, EAPOL, TLS, VPN support and a password-protected web interface, so that unauthorised access (including the management/administration interface) is not possible. To highlight the customer company’s corporate identity, the D717’s widescreen TFT display is able to display the company logo or other background images.
