The new M500 DECT dual-cell system with M55 IP handset and M58 DECT IP desk phone

Premium IP telephony brand, Snom, is expanding its DECT product portfolio with the new M500 dual-cell system, together with the associated M55 and M58 end devices. This new product line meets the needs of mobile offices and medium-sized shops. April 21, 2023 - Snom, a globally renowned specialist in IP communication for hybrid and smart office environments, has announced the launch of its new M500 DECT multi-cell system at specialist retailers. The new DECT system has been designed for medium-sized offices, shops and businesses which demand the highest levels of mobility. Offering all the essential functions for business communication, the M500 enables the two base stations to be coupled in a series and combined into a single cell. This makes the system a solution that is easy to implement if the number of available LAN ports is limited or LAN cabling cannot be installed. Regardless of the VoIP provider, the connected DECT base stations can support up to 16 DECT IP telephones, enabling up to 16 calls to be made at a time, and the integration of up to 48 SIP identities. Snom’s M500 system has an impressive range of up to 50 metres indoors and 300 metres outdoors, as well as LDAP and XML phonebook support. It also features a central telephone directory with 500 entries, which is accessible to all connected telephones, as well as three LEDs for DECT and VoIP, or power supply status. The new system can also be powered by existing PoE switches. A highlight of the new multi-cell system is the unique "Shared Call Emulation" (SCE) telephone system function. This enables system-wide monitoring of calls from several trunk lines using six LED function keys, which can be accepted, held or taken over with each connected telephone. This function ensures extra flexibility in various application scenarios. For security, the M500 features the latest encryption standards (TLS & SRTP). Automatic configuration, zero-touch provisioning and authentication are all carried out using mutual TLS (MTLS). The DECT dual-cell system is operated with two new end devices: the Snom M55 cordless handset and the M58 DECT desk phone. Both devices have wideband audio and antibacterial housing. Seamless handover also allows uninterrupted calls between base stations. The robust and ergonomic Snom M55 handset features a durable design and solid haptics. The large 2.4" colour display ensures a clear and concise presentation of the intuitive user interface. All settings can be customised centrally via the M500 base station using the zero-touch provisioning function, whilst software updates are available "over the air". In addition to proven system features such as line monitoring, call acceptance and hold/return, there are six LED function keys which can be used to program broadcast and intercom groups. The high-performance 1,500 mAh battery offers up to twelve hours of talk time in HD audio quality, via both wired and wireless headphones. Additionally, the new Snom M58 DECT desk phone combines an impressive design based on the Snom 8xx series, a generous 5" colour display and flexibility in placement. This DECT-over-IP telephone does not require a network connection, making it the ideal terminal for office or fixed workstations without additional VoIP cabling. All settings can be customised centrally using zero-touch provisioning, and the software can be updated wirelessly if necessary. Alongside the phone’s standard functions, the Snom system function emulation can also be programmed on eight triple-assignable LED buttons. The M58 supports both wired and wireless headphones. The Snom M500 is a new milestone in the Snom ecosystem, being highly adaptable and extremely practical for a wide range of applications. "People who run a shop or a restaurant are particularly well served with this solution," explains Oliver Wittig, Senior Application Manager at Snom. "A DECT desk phone and a dual base station are the perfect introduction to a flexible working environment."
