Expansion provides choice, new capabilities for Minnesota enterprises
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct.9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — tw telecom (NASDAQ: TWTC), a leading provider of Business Ethernet and networking solutions, today announced it is expanding its existing footprint in Minneapolis with service into St. Paul, as well as the ever growing business communities in the western suburbs, the northern metro areas including Anoka County and south and east through Washington County including the St. Croix Valley.
“Rapid economic growth in Minneapolis – St. Paul and surrounding suburbs is fueling increased demand for flexible, innovative and robust networking solutions by businesses entering the state as well as those existing businesses in our state all looking to gain a competitive edge in the marketplace,” said Steve Hatcher, vice president and general manager, tw telecom Minneapolis. “tw telecom‘s expanded investments in Minnesota will help to further enhance the connectivity across the Twin Cities, as well as provide additional choice, options and capabilities for businesses across our community.”
The company currently serves numerous Minneapolis business customers and data centers including Boston Scientific, Protolabs, and Home Furniture. The network expansion also will connect tw telecom services directly to data center customers in the western suburbs.
“Customer demand is fueling this expansion in and around the Twin Cities metro area,” added Hatcher. “More locations with new and existing customers, as well as our data center partners, can now be served directly with our fiber network and extensive service portfolio including our award winning Business Ethernet service suite by extending our footprint to additional key areas in and around the Twin Cities.”

As part of this effort, tw telecom has entered into five new high-demand markets – Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond, Va. and Salt Lake City – and is accelerating the density of its metro-fiber footprint in more than a third of its existing markets.
tw telecom is the top ranked competitive provider of Business Ethernet and one of the top three providers of Ethernet throughout the U.S., according to leading industry analyst firm Vertical Systems Group.
