Cbeyond's General Counsel Bill Weber to Speak at LegalTech West Coast 2013

ATLANTA, May 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cbeyond Inc. (Nasdaq:CBEY), the technology ally to small and mid-sized businesses, today announced the company's senior vice president and general counsel, William H. Weber, will speak at LegalTech West Coast 2013, May 21-22 at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Cbeyond will also showcase its Certified Application Servers service which currently supports Abacus Law(TM) 2012, at booth #226. Abacus Law, an award-winning legal software application with over 250,000 users, provides case management, legal calendar software, calendaring, accounting and time/billing for lawyers. Weber will present "The Cloud as a Competitive Weapon for Law Firms" on Wednesday, May 22 from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. PDT. The CLE-Eligible presentation will focus on why law firms use cloud applications and discuss perception versus reality related to security and compliance concerns, as well as best practices for beginning cloud implementation. "Technology has become indispensable for lawyers," said Weber. "From security to compliance to dealing with an ever-evolving new media and communications landscape, Cloud applications and infrastructure offer a very real opportunity to reduce costs while improving attorney productivity and client responsiveness." In March, Cbeyond announced the availability of its Certified Application Servers(TM) (CAS) for the small and mid-sized business market, enabling users to securely access and run their most frequently used business productivity applications from anywhere, any time and on any device. Weber joined Cbeyond in 2006 as the company's first in-house counsel and now serves as general counsel, leading the company's legal and regulatory departments. Before Cbeyond, Weber was vice president of Regulatory Affairs and Operations for Covad Communications where he led a nationwide team tasked with protecting the company's interests in the administrative agencies and legislatures of 28 states. Weber taught law at the University of Georgia and practiced commercial litigation at a large Atlanta law firm before joining Covad. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and spent twelve years in the Marine Corps, first as a tank officer and later as a criminal defense attorney.
