4^th Episode in “Future of the Network” Documentary Series Features Interviews with Executives from Dell, GENBAND, Intel & Other Industry Leaders

ARLINGTON, VA (Oct. 1, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today released “The Cloud: Building in Mid-Air” – the fourth installment in its Future of the Network documentary series. Each documentary in the series explores a critical issue facing the network and prepares viewers for in-depth discussions during the TIA 2013 conference, which takes place Oct. 7-10 in Washington, D.C.
“The Cloud: Building in Mid-Air” takes a close look at the growth of cloud computing and the network’s role as a foundation for cloud-based innovations, such as big data and software-defined networking, which are in the process of transforming the information and communications technology (ICT) industry.  The documentary also discusses security and capacity issues, datacenter power costs and other hurdles to cloud adoption.
In addition to providing significant background information and graphics to help explain the challenges and opportunity of cloud computing, the episode features interviews with cloud pioneers and executives who are focused on virtualization, including: David A. Walsh, President, CEO and Chairman of GENBAND; Franklin Flint, Global Telecommunications Strategist & Marketing Director of Dell OEM Solutions; Rose Schooler, General Manager of the Communications Infrastructure Division at Intel; and many others.

Each episode in the Future of the Network documentary series takes an in-depth look at the state of the ICT industry as it relates to an issue of critical importance.  The first episode in the series addressed M2M and the Internet of Things, while the second and third focused on broadband capacity challenges and software-defined networking, respectively. The fifth and sixth episodes – which will explore the ICT value chain and spectrum – will be released in 2014. Each episode will be archived online at TIA2013.org.
