INCOMPAS, VON and NTCA join the Cloud Communications Alliance in calling on the to FCC to Address IP Interconnection

The CCA joined INCOMPAS, the Voice on the Net Coalition, and NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association in urging FCC Chairwoman Rosenworcel to address the critical need for IP Interconnection.  The continued presence of outdated TDM switches, often operated by the large incumbent carriers, requires companies originating VoIP calls to downgrade to legacy technology to connect their networks.  One big problem with the lack of IP interconnection is that STIR/SHAKEN information gets lost, wasting the millions of dollars companies have invested in this technology.  The associations urged the Commission “to proactively examine and endorse measures that promote IP interconnection, facilitating the implementation of technologies that promise to mitigate fraudulent calls, enhance the credibility of the telecommunications network, and fortify public safety measures.”
