Hybrid Software Platform for WebRTC and Flash VoIP Calls via a Web Browser is Released

October 22, 2013 - Flashphoner released a hybrid server-side platform Flashphoner Web Call Server 3 for audio and video calls, made from a web browser, to landline phones and SIP/VoIP devices. The main purpose of the platform is to enable browser calls without the installation of any additional software by end-users. The system can be deployed either in the local office network or through the public Internet and can be used for providing web calls to a wide circle of subscribers. The hybrid platform, unlike existing WebRTC SIP gateways, is able to switch between WebRTC and Flash Player technologies to support a wide range of browsers and operation systems. According to the developer, Flashphoner presents a product on the market that is unique in its class because, currently, WebRTC technology works in the latest Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox only. Flash Player, however, is supported within Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari browsers. This approach facilitates maximum coverage of the existing popular browsers and provides a Web VoIP service for a larger circle of users - all this according to the developer. The main design features of Flashphoner Web Call Server 3 are built in logic WebRTC server and Flash RTMFP server. These features enable the platform to run on SRTP/DTLS and RTMFP protocols. Among other supported protocols are: HTML5 Secure Websockets, SIP, RTP, STUN, ICE. The platform supports G.711, Speex, G.729, Opus audio codecs and video codecs such as Sorenson Spark, H.263, H.263+, H.264, VP8. Providing universal support of many communication protocols and browsers makes this solution very engaging for VoIP service providers and also the enterprise sector for the task of integration telephony services into a company website.
