Bella Sewall Wolitz Joins Brownstein’s Energy & Natural Resources Department

October 2, 2019 - Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Bella Sewall Wolitz has joined the firm as of counsel in its Energy & Natural Resources Department. Sewall Wolitz works with federal agencies on interstate and tribal water resource issues and matters involving water law, federal Indian law, administrative law and the National Environmental Policy Act. “Bella’s knowledge and prior experience with the Department of the Interior is a natural fit for our American Indian Law & Policy practice group,” said Ryan Smith, Brownstein’s Energy & Natural Resources Department chair. “We’re thrilled that’s she’s joined our team and that our clients will benefit from her expertise.” Sewall Wolitz brings 13 years of experience with the Department of the Interior working in several roles. While there, she served as an attorney in the Solicitor’s Office advising the Bureau of Reclamation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Geological Survey. As the assistant legislative counsel in the Office of the Secretary, she prepared officials for congressional hearings, drafted legislative proposals and worked with the White House, Congress and other federal agencies to accomplish the Secretary of the Interior’s legislative agenda. Sewall Wolitz has taught as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Tennessee College of Law and presented on topics in federal Indian law and water law. She received a law degree from Yale Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
