Brownstein Adds Michele Blackwell to its State Government Relations and State Attorneys General Groups

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce Michele Blackwell has joined the firm as a shareholder in the State Government Relations and State Attorneys General practice groups. She will be based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
“From her time at Uber and with the Democratic Attorneys General Association, Michele has proven expertise in public policy, state and local government operations, and working with state attorneys general. She excels at building coalitions, navigating complex legislative processes and turning policy ideas into law,” said Doug Friednash, chair of Brownstein’s State Government Relations team. “She is a strong addition to our 50-state approach to state government relations and will also join the State Attorneys General practice group, where she will work closely with co-chairs Jason Dunn and Sarah Mercer.”
Blackwell most recently served as the senior public policy manager for Uber Technologies, Inc. While there she led engagement with all 51 state attorneys general, building strategic partnerships and handling responses to regulatory inquiries. She managed legal and regional operations to advocate for innovative transportation policies and to protect the independent employment structure in the gig economy. Blackwell also served as deputy director of policy at the Democratic Attorneys General Association, where she developed programming and policy content for state AGs nationwide. She advised senior leadership on high-profile legal actions and policy trends and played a pivotal role in organizing national policy conferences and strategic partnerships.
Blackwell earned her law degree from George Washington University Law School and her bachelor’s degree from Hampton University.
