Brownstein Announces New D.C. Office Leadership Structure

January 3, 2023 - As the new year begins, Brownstein is pleased to announce its new Washington, D.C., office leadership structure. Shareholder Marc Lampkin, who has served in firm leadership roles over the past 10 years, is going to focus on client service and business development. Policy Director Nadeam Elshami and Shareholder Will Moschella will co-chair the Government Relations practice moving forward to provide a leadership team that reflects the firm’s long commitment to bipartisanship both internally and for the firm’s clients. Norm Brownstein will continue his role as chairman of the Government Relations practice as well as chairman of the firm. “I want to thank Marc for his leadership over the past decade,” said Rich Benenson, Brownstein’s managing partner. “Under Marc’s leadership, the firm grew into the largest federal lobbying firm by revenue and became a destination for the brightest legal and policy professionals in the nation.” Elshami is an experienced leader who joined the firm five years ago after a 25-year career on Capitol Hill that included serving as chief of staff to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), senior communications advisor to Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), deputy chief of staff and communications director to Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and deputy press secretary to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Moschella has been at Brownstein for 15 years and leverages his experience in the Justice Department as principal associate deputy attorney general and as assistant attorney general in the Office of Legislative Affairs and in Congress as the House Judiciary Committee as chief oversight counsel, chief legislative counsel and parliamentarian. Supporting Elshami and Moschella’s roles will be Laura Derby, who has been promoted to chief of staff for Brownstein’s federal Government Relations practice. Karen Godfrey has been named Washington, D.C., office administrator. “I look forward to working with Will, Nadeam, Laura and Karen to ensure that Brownstein remains one of the most respected firms in the nation’s capital and a great place to work and grow professionally,” said Benenson.
