Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Announces Growth of Health Care Practice

Recent additions expand practice in Denver and Washington, D.C. February 6, 2019 - Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce the expansion of its health care practice, with the return of Darryl Landahl as a shareholder in the firm’s Denver office and the addition of Brian Burns as counsel and Emily Felder as senior policy advisor and counsel in Washington, D.C. Landahl has rejoined Brownstein’s Corporate & Business Department after most recently serving as vice president and associate general counsel at a multistate medical group where he helped guide its pending sale to a national health care company. Landahl adds transactional and regulatory depth to the firm’s national health care practice. He has substantial experience advising health care providers, health plans and other health care industry clients on all types of regulatory and transactional matters with a particular focus on structuring contracts and acquisitions in compliance with federal and state law. Burns joins the firm’s Government Relations Department and health care practice in Washington, D.C. He most recently served as executive director of federal affairs at Johnson & Johnson, where he managed the company’s political action committee and grassroots activities, and staffed the company’s representative on the PhRMA Board of Directors. He also worked as a director of federal affairs at Johnson & Johnson, where he represented the company before Congress on issues related to tax, trade, biopharmaceuticals, the Medicare Part D program and the Central American Free Trade Agreement. Felder, whose first day at the firm will be Feb. 11, will also join Brownstein’s Government Relations Department and health care practice in Washington, D.C. Most recently, she served as the director of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Office of Legislation. Prior to that, she served as counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, developing and advancing the committee’s oversight priorities relating to health care, drug policy and pricing, and federal benefit programs. Felder also served on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. “These newest cross-office additions to our health care practice group underscore our work for clients at the intersection of business, law and politics,” said Adam Agron, Brownstein’s managing partner. “The combination of their health care specific legal knowledge and policy experience adds depth to our national health care practice to help deliver results for clients.”
