CCA Member Announcement: FCC Offers Some Providers a Second Chance on RMD Recertification
Important update for CCA members operating as voice service providers.
According to The CommLaw Group, the FCC has begun sending notices to certain providers that missed the March 1, 2026 Robocall Mitigation Database (RMD) annual recertification deadline, giving some of them another opportunity to come into compliance. At least one notice reviewed by the firm provides a November 6, 2026 deadline. However, The CommLaw Group cautions that there is no confirmed universal extension, so providers should not assume additional time applies to them.
This is particularly important because the FCC is considering tougher RMD enforcement measures, including automatic suspension or removal from the database for missed annual recertifications. These proposals have not yet been adopted, but they demonstrate the FCC's increasing focus on RMD compliance.
CCA members should take this opportunity to:
- Confirm that their 2026 RMD recertification was successfully completed.
- Review their RMD filing and Robocall Mitigation Plan for accuracy.
- Make sure FCC CORES and RMD contact information is current.
- Check spam and junk folders for possible FCC deficiency notices.
- If the March 1 deadline was missed, investigate available options for completing the recertification immediately.
