Cloud Communications Alliance Releases 2019 Industry Survey

CLOUD CONTINUES TO SOAR… As the industry focuses on Growth Washington DC - September 10th, 2019 - On the 11 th of September at the Cloud Comms Summit, the Cloud Communications Alliance will share the findings of its survey of 45 Service Providers in the US and European Markets. The results provide a barometer of the attitudes of the Service Provider community in this emerging market area. The main message from the research was that Service Providers are projecting significant growth, by both expanding to new geographic markets, vertical sectors, and through M&A activity. They are projecting growth approaching 40% over the next 12 – 24 months. This means that growth will remain strong industry‐wide but companies can expect increased competition across all markets, potentially even from new entrants that have not posed a threat before. Platform development continues to evolve as those service providers with their own self-built proprietary platforms has grown to almost equal those providers using third party platforms. There is a meaningful push to go up-market as 40% of the providers are planning to begin to move to addressing the large enterprise segment.  As they do this, providing high quality voice services becomes critical and 30% of those providing access now also plan to also offer SD-Wan to enable customers to have high quality voice over their existing data connection. Interestingly indirect channels have and continue to be crucial channels to market for these service providers, although this may change as we see an intention for the Service providers to grow into the mid and large enterprise market.  The other interesting driver was the requirement to focus more and more on mobility within their offerings to customers. In terms of future service development, it appears Service Providers are prioritizing both AI and CPaaS initiatives as they look to tailor their solutions to integrate even further into business processes. “The industry is predicting strong growth, and the service providers are focused on new go-to- market approaches, M&A and platform and product initiatives to help facilitate it. The Service providers recognize that more competition is likely to emerge from the mega cloud companies who are looking to expand it to this market, so they are working to stay ahead with significant new innovation and expansion”, Clark Peterson, CCA Chairman.
