ITOCHU Migrates Global Communication Infrastructure to NTT Communications Enterprise Cloud and Microsoft Office 365

Cloud-based Delivery of Software Expected to Increase Employee Productivity                         TOKYO--( BUSINESS WIRE)-- NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group (NYSE:NTT), announced today that it is building next-generation ICT infrastructure incorporating the company’s Enterprise Cloud service, as well as Microsoft’s Office 365 and other applications delivered as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), to provide ITOCHU Corporation, one of the leading sogo shosha (general trading companies), with advanced ICT capabilities for employees worldwide. All applications are being provided from the cloud and can be accessed via the Internet as well as private network environments of ITOCHU offices globally. By leveraging NTT Com’s Enterprise Cloud, which is backed by 11 cloud delivery centers around the world, together with Office 365, ITOCHU’s next-generation ICT infrastructure obtained a robustness, security and convenience that allows employees to access smoothly from anywhere and on any devices. ITOCHU is leading trade conglomerate with approximately 130 bases in 67 countries and over $50 billion in revenue. ITOCHU engages in a wide range of industries, including textile, machinery, metals, minerals, energy, chemicals, food, information and communications technology, realty, general products, insurance, logistics services, construction and finance. Commencing in June, ITOCHU began using the Lync Online unified communication application, the Yammer internal SNS application and the SharePoint Online internal and external information sharing and management application, and from this month it has begun using Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Exchange Online mailer and scheduler. Some 6,000 IDs have been issued to ITOCHU’s workforce to date. Additional applications and services are being assessed at this time. Exchange Server and Exchange Online, both of which require high security and flexibility, will be available principally from a private cloud created with NTT Com’s Enterprise Cloud, as well as from a public cloud using Office 365 as backup, helping to realize an extra convenient and robust communications environment. Mail is transferred to Office 365 in real time, which would enable ITOCHU to use this backup data for business continuity in the event of a disaster. ITOCHU, which emphasizes the individual potential of each employee, has been a forerunner in creating advanced work environments for frontline employees, ultimately for improved efficiency. Using next-generation ICT infrastructure designed and constructed by NTT Com, ITOCHU employees are now working in extra-efficient office environments worldwide, regardless of location or type of device. Going forward, ITOCHU expects to achieve greater worldwide competitiveness as a result of deploying its NTT Com-provided global cloud environment. About Enterprise Cloud Enterprise Cloud is provided from 11 bases in nine countries/regions globally. ITOCHU uses Enterprise Cloud as IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) for its new integrated mailer and scheduler. More at www.ntt.com
