Telecom and Tech Industry Veteran Will Join Company on November 1
RIDGELAND, MS. (September 30, 2015) – C Spire announced today that Stephen Bye will be joining the executive team of the Mississippi-based diversified telecommunications and technology services company as Chief Technology Officer effective November 1.
“I have known Stephen for many years,” said Hu Meena, president and CEO of C Spire, in announcing Bye’s addition to the company’s senior management ranks. “Stephen makes our management team even stronger and he will be a great cultural fit at C Spire. His technological expertise and leadership will be valuable additions to our company.” Bye most recently served as CTO at Sprint where he led a major overhaul and shift in the strategic direction of their network. Through his leadership and great teamwork, Sprint was recognized as the most improved national wireless service provider in 2014, Sprint’s voice and data network KPIs improved significantly year over year, and independent, third-party evaluations showed Sprint’s network performance improved from 4th to 1st overall in a number of major national markets. Prior to his time at Sprint, Bye was Vice President of Wireless at Cox Communications and he also served as Executive Director of Converged Services at AT&T. In total, Bye has more than 23 years of industry experience across a number of disciplines including technology and network development, engineering, operations, as well as cable. Bye is a Chartered Engineer, a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK). He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in electrical engineering from the University of Tasmania, Australia, and a bachelor’s degree with honors in banking and finance from the London School of Economics, University of London. Bye, a veteran of the Royal Australian Navy, is on the advisory board for Sutter Hill Ventures and has served on the boards of numerous industry groups over the years.
