WILEF Honors Cooley with Sixth Gold Standard Certification

New York – June 14, 2017 – For the sixth consecutive year, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum has recognized Cooley with its Gold Standard Certification. The Gold Standard is WILEF's highest level of recognition for commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry. “We are truly honored to receive this recognition six years running,” said Shira Nadich Levin, partner and co-chair of the firm's Women's Initiative alongside partner Kay Chandler. “It’s a vivid reflection of Cooley’s longstanding commitment to maintaining and growing a diverse workplace, and a reminder that there is still so much more to achieve.” WILEF certification emphasizes the leadership roles achieved by equity women partners. To receive Gold Standard Certification, firms must demonstrate that “women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, and of their most highly compensated partners.” In 2016, Fortune magazine named Cooley a Best Workplace for Women for the second consecutive year. Fortune has also recognized Cooley on its elite 100 Best Companies to Work For list and the firm has earned positions on Fortune lists targeted at flexibility and giving back. Many other outlets have also recognized Cooley’s unique culture, including Working Mother magazine, which last year named Cooley a Best Law Firm for Women for the fifth consecutive year, and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, which recently awarded Cooley its second consecutive perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index.
