Podcast: Genband and Sonus came through the merger as Ribbon Communications bigger, stronger and are roaring at Perspectives 2018

Patrick Joggerst Patrick Joggerst

This was a commonsense merger. Patrick Joggerst, CMO & SVP Business Development explains to Don Witt of the Channel Daily News, a TR publication. The markets did not overlap, the products were complimentary and as a combined organization, while they both support carriers, Genband was number 1 in media gateways and number 2 in soft-switches with Sonus maintaining a strong position in session boarder controllers (SBC). Now, together, they are the number 1 global leader in network transformation working with carriers around the world.

New to the portfolio is Ribbon Protect.  Basically, the borders of the network are protected by session boarder controllers and firewalls.  However, when the borders are breached, Ribbon Protect acts as the last line of defense.  It monitors activity in the network and when an anomaly is identified, it is shut down.
