Understanding Access Gateway Function (AGF), Wireless Wireline Convergence (WWC)

It was announced this week that Metaswitch will be acquired by Microsoft, marking a very notable milestone in the 5G communications transformation underway. Two weeks ago, Metaswitch announced that its Access Gateway Function (AGF) solution had been successfully tested by Vodafone for the industry’s first implementation of the 5G Wireless Wireline Convergence (WWC) AGF standard. We sat down with Martin Taylor, Metaswitch’s CTO, to better understand this story. We learn about 5G Wireless Wireline Convergence (5G WWC) and how 5G WWC impacts UC. Martin discusses the advantages of bringing together mobile and wireline broadband. Martin also remarks about the future of 5G and its adoption.
