Texting Turns 30, Bandwidth Podcast

On December 3, 1992, a developer working for Vodafone, sent the first ever text message from a computer to a Nokia cell phone. It read “Merry Christmas,” the first instance of a classic tradition to send well wishes during the holidays. Today, on the 30th anniversary of the first ever text message, Bandwidth’s Stephanie Lashley will be taking us through the history of texting, from the nostalgic years of the Nokia phones and ringtones, to the complex regulations in place today to support the massive B2C texting industry. Bandwidth has been in operation since 1999, helping businesses navigate the changing space of telecommunications for the last 23 years, and powering over a billion messages each month.
