US HOMELAND SECURITY ISSUES TWO COVID-19 CRITICAL ACCESS LETTERS FOR COMMUNICATIONS WORKERS

Communications companies that may have personnel required to respond to critical infrastructure repairs between now and May 28th should download the following two letters issued this week by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The first authorizes those personnel to travel during the National Emergency and the second allows personnel to obtain fuel during the same period. DHS said yesterday that communications workers, including broadband and cable, are “essential to continued critical infrastructure viability, including staffing operations centers, maintaining and repairing critical infrastructure, operating call centers, working construction, and performing management functions, among others.” (DHS Guidance)
